Two types of crappie live in Alabama, black crappie and white crappie, with hybrids of the two occuring naturally some lakes, such as Weiss Lake. Recommended lakes for 2011 crappie fishing in Alabama: Pickwick Lake (northwest Alabama), Guntersville (northeast Alabama), Lake Martin (east central), Jones Bluff (central), Coffeeville (west), and Washington County Lake (south).
